When President Bush tried to get Congress to write him basically a blank check for $700 billion dollars to bail out Wall Street, Congress said no and went back to the table and it appeared that Congress was satisfied with the introduction of caps on executives pay concerning the bailout and that there would be oversight on these companies benefiting from the bailout. However Bush tried to sneak one by. The ones on the oversight committee would all be Bush appointees, not a single elected official or member of Congress. If this got passed it would be the same as having no cap on the executives, allowing Bush to dictate all of the businesses basically because none of the appointees would go against him, because ultimately he could fire them for no reason, as that is the privilege of the President concerning appointed members, as was shown in the firing of the former Attorney General. Luckily, Congress caught this attempt by the President to manipulate the situation. Congress is not giving up and I am sure a bailout will pass, maybe not to the likings of the President. According to the Constitution, judicial powers are not to be given to the executive branch, that is why we have checks and balances. And if this would have passed, it would have given Bush the power over the so called oversight committee, which simplified is giving the executive branch control over a judicial branch which would be against the United States Constitution. Bush has tried and tried to give the Executive branch all the powers of the government and bordered on the line with the passing of the Patriot Act, which was the beginning. The sooner the better to get this man out of office and stop him from ruining the Office of the President of the United States of America. He, is in my opinion, a disgrace to the office in which he currently holds! Too bad for Wall Street, but hey, they put themselves in that position to begin with! So take your lumps!

On a scale of 1 to 10 it comes down to a -5 for McCain/Palin or a 3 for Obama/Biden, so this election I am going with the 3.

I didn’t make it to work on Saturday. I ended up spending 3 1/2 hours in the Emergency Room at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa. Somehow I ended up with something in my eye and could not get it out, and after P.A. Banwart tried several times, I think it finally dislodged. But by that time my eye and eye socket felt like someone had beat the crap out of it, so went to Pizza Hut and got some supper and then on to home and in bed. Well then on Monday I had to go have some blood work done, because last time, my blood work showed that I was anemic. Well apparently I still am because now my doctor wants me to have another colonoscopy done to check for possible cancer. Yeah, just keeps getting better. Also last week I went to the chiropractor and went over X-rays of my neck and it showed that I am losing the proper curvature in my neck due to possible bad posture, weight, and just bad bones. So then a slight check of my hip sockets, where the femur sits, might possibly show damage to the tops of the femur and the socket itself. So I have to make an appointment to have more detailed X-rays and inspection done of it as well. So basically I am falling apart, from the inside and at the joints. And if this all wasn’t enough, it seems that someone in my household doesn’t care if they graduate or not, because he is not turning in his work and currently is failing 3 out of 6 classes and barely passing a fourth. But he doesn’t care. His main concerns are “Can I watch a DVD movie?” or “Can I get some music for my ipod?”. I fail to see how anyone can just blow off their grades. Maybe he needs to see a psychiatrist, because it is starting to seem that something is not wired correctly. But he is 18, as he like to point out, so I really am beginning not to care anymore. He had better be looking and saving his money for a new place to live come May of next year!

The government is fu*king everything up and I am beginning to say “I don’t give a fu%k!”. Bush is an ass and has no clue what the hell is going on! My body has just about worn out it’s earthly existence and is ready to move onward. /mm

One trillion dollars, could be the total when the Government is done bailing out business on Wall Street. One has to wonder how much our taxes are going to have to go up to pay for this. 2007 Census put the US Population at 301,150,000 people. Divide one trillion by the population and now the total comes up to $3,320.60 per every man, woman, and child in the US. You can almost double that to $6,600 per taxpayer. I don’t know about you, but I would think screw the businesses and give me the money instead. I know they say they are loans, but in reality, how many are going to pay back? Not too many if any, most will be changed to forgivable loans down the road. And as the current proposal stands there is no guarantee that once the money is ‘loaned’ that the companies have to change the way they do business. I have to agree with Speaker Pelosi, the money should not be loaned until there are guarantees that the company must change their practices to stay in the black and there must be caps on CEO’s. It is ridiculous when you read that one of these businesses that are going to go under, that there CEO’s are still making seven figure salaries! When Bear Stearns went under the CEO made $60 million dollars that year and when Lehman Brothers CEO left when the company filed for bankruptcy, he left with a $22 million dollar retirement award, Merril Lynch’s CEO received $161 million dollars the same time the company posted a $40 billion dollar lost! And to think our fuc@ing government id going to bailout these companies and the CEO’s are still going to be making big ass salaries, that is bullshit! And we as tax payers should not have to put up with it. Just pi$$es a person off! Government for the people, HA!, how about Bush’s and Cheney’s government for the big businessman! Big business is okay, but screw the average American! As far as I am concerned to hell with then all!

According to the news, it sounds like Wall Street is falling down. We all knew it was coming, it was just a matter of when?. Well, it looks like it is now. Good part is, that it is going to re-set the country back the way it should be. By the way (BTW) oil closed at $92.77, can you believe it, yea!!!

I was soo happy, I finally figured out how to get the pictures and videos off of my Verizon locked, cell phone with out having to remove the memory card every time. I used a program called QPST. Google it if you want more information.

I did not do an audio this week because I worked an extra day of overtime, there by shortening by weekend. The way it is going I may be working more OT days in the future. Needed extra money to pay for the ridiculous prices of Iowa plates, which are 1% of the retail value of your vehicle for the first 5 years before it starts to reduce the prices by a small factor. So if your vehicle retails for $40,000, then you pay $400 a year for license plates. What a freaking ridiculous price! Got to support the damn Gov’t somehow.

Well other than that not much going on, so Adios for now.

Rain Mayhem

The rain has been playing havoc with the roads today. Highway 99 was closed again heading into Oakville because it had over a foot of water running over it this morning. Highway 61 was temporarily closed north of Mediapolis, because of water running over it. My guess by the scanner traffic (police scanner) at one time Mediapolis was inaccessible from the North, South, and West sides because of rain water flowing over the roads. The only safe way into town was from highway 99 on the East. Pleasant Grove road was flooded and they (county roads) were concerned, because at one spot the water was starting to undercut the pavement and try to flow under it. And as of 5:30 pm they are still having problems with water on the roadways and at one point I heard them (county roads) say they had no more signs to put out to close or warn drivers about spots in the roads! I’m sure tomorrow (Sunday) the Burlington Hawkeye newspaper will have it on the front page. It was raining so much this morning that my wife and I had to go out in the rain and clear the gutters. What a freaking mess that was, but we got them done and we were soaked through and through. But for what’s left of them, they are half-butt working. My gutters are of the old steel seamed gutters and are falling apart at the seams, literally. So far we have received 2″ of rain last night and an additional 4.25″ so far today and it is still raining and looks like it is going to continue to rain until tomorrow! I reset my rain gauge on September 2nd, 11 days ago , and so far the total rain in the last 11 days is 8.35″ of rain. I will update tomorrow the total from the rest of tonight, which I am sure is going to continue to grow larger.

I clicked the turbo mode on my wordpress blog today in Google Chrome’s browser and it allowed me to enable Google Gears, but I got a surprise when it started to enable gears, it mentioned Safari by stating

I got my electric bill for July - August and it was only $143, compared to the average of $400+. I have been shutting down my computers and it has been paying off apparently, or there was an error in reading the meter. Next month’s bill will determine that. As it stands now, if it is correct, this bill is the lowest bill I have ever had since we moved out there and it is over $200 lower than the lowest August bill I have ever had. So, if next months bill is just as low, I will make it common practice from now on not to leave the computers running 24/7. Also part of the saving is that I don’t have anyone home watching t.v. and opening and closing the refrigerator all day either. But the savings just blew me away, just as an example my budget billing is $391 a month to give you an idea of the average electric bill and I came in over $200 less than the budget, so WOW!

Gotta watch the energy devils out there. /mm

New shows discovered

I don’t watch much television, but the last few days I have been cruising the channels for some odd reason, and as a result I found three interesting shows and a preview of a new on coming up. Two of them I found on the Travel Channel, and they are Anthony Bourdain No Reservations, which is about the host traveling to different locals and experiencing the culture from the food to the lifestyles, and the other is Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern, in which the host travels and finds the most bizzare and gross stuff to eat, but most of it is common to the areas in which he visits, this will make you squirm sometimes at the stuff he eats. The next show I discovered or found is Wrecked, Life in the Crash Lane. This show is about O’Hare towing company in Chicago. The mostly deal with a lot big truck wrecks. They have huge semi-wreckers that they use. It is a neat show on the Speed channel. The last show is set to debut on September 28th on National Geographic channel and is called World’s Toughest Fixes, it is about the host taking us to places to fix the biggest and difficult things. It sounds neat. So check them out.

Google Chrome’s download manager sucks!

I like Google Chrome’s web browser for browsing, but for downloads it sucks. Not quite sure what it is doing, but I had several downloads not download fully and the ones it was downloading it said were taking forever. It might be that it does not like multiple downloads simultaneously. I have had no problems downloading one file at a time, but it chokes on more than one at once. It calculated over 3 hours to complete a 15mb download, so one the same machine at the same time, I fired up IE and it downloaded the file in less than 2 min from the same site. In fact IE downloaded all 5 files in the time Chrome took to download one. OUCH! Google. Of course, I still have to remind myself it is a new beta browser, but everything from Google stays in beta, just look at Gmail.
